These Are a Few of My Favorite Things #1: 11 Things That Say Summer

1.  Waking up to sunshine coming through the window, and not and alarm clock.

2.  Cold watermelon sprinkled with salt.

3.  Tank tops and maxi skirts.

4.  Skyping with friends in the middle of the day.

5.  Fun summer classes that don't feel at all like school.

6.  This song: (and practically anything else by Mumford and Sons)

7.  Reading an entire book (or two) in one day.

8.  Taking my little sister to the pool the day it opens.

9.  Swinging at night because it's too hot during the day.

10.  Impromptu trips to the city.

11.  Belting out songs from Les Miserables in my room because I have nothing important to do.

What are some of your favorite things about summer?

    1. Ohh! Yes! Swimming and ice cream are absolutely necessary parts of summer! I don't know if it would be summer without them. (-:

  3. This post is lovely! Sitting on the porch in the evening and reading or chatting, eating blueberries until I'm sick of them, coming home and not having to even think about homework, and being able to savor time spent outside rather than rush through it because it's freezing. :)

    1. Ahh, yes, I love the relaxation of summer! I haven't gotten as much reading done as I would like, but definitely more than during the school year! The weather sounds lovely where you live. We have to wait for the monsoon season for it to be cool enough to go outside during the day around here! XD

  5. Dear Lizzy,

I was totally going to comment on a post of yours a little while ago, but just as I hit the "post" button, my computer crashed and I was like NOOOOO I WANTED TO TELL HER HOW MUCH I LOVE MUMFORD AND SONS TOOOO. ahem. So yes, hello! I need to check out that song because I don't think I've heard it before. But I'm really getting into their music -- it's so fun and gahh. "Cold watermelon sprinkled with salt." < OKAY this is sounding really amazing. I need to get me some watermelon. Also, swinging at night and skyping with friends in the middle of the day is just magical. <3 Keep writing and making lovely lists like these that make me remember how beautiful the simple, everyday moments are!

    love,
    abbie

    1. Abbie! Oh my gawsh! I HATE when that happens! My computer does that to me way more often than I would like... Aww, well atleast now I know you're a fan of Mumford and Sons! Have you listened to their new album yet? (It's-awesomesauce-and you-should-really-listen-to-it-if-you-haven't-yet. *gulps for air*) YESH! You need to try watermellon with salt! Some people say it's weird, but I think it makes it taste even better. (-: And know what's even more magical than swinging at night? Swinging in the rain! It rained really hard yesterday and I just swung during the downpour and got soaking wet. It was fabulous!
And thank you so much for the sweet and awesome comment, Abbie. It really made my day. (-:

  6. These are sooo awesome, but salt on watermelon?! I've never heard of that?! If it's delicious I so want to try it. ^_^ Ahhh, reading a whole book in a day is a glorious thing anytime of year. *nods* My favourite things about summer are basically beach. and ICE CREAM. I love ice cream. And being outside so late and it not even being dark...ahhhh, I love that.

  8. My grandpa ate his watermelon with salt on it. I've tried it, and it's okay, but I like plain watermelon better, I must admit.

BTW, I tagged you here. Play if you want to!
